Student Internships

Each semester, 6-15 students complete internships with the program. These opportunities have expanded to include a physical therapy elective, fieldwork experience for gerontology (Gero130/131), community nutrition (NuFD 117), and psychology (Psych 143), with additional placement of students in an ID 201 course. Students have a multifaceted role, contributing to both the daily function of the program as well as developing projects to benefit both the students and the program.

A major component of this wellness program is becoming part of a community. Our student interns greatly contribute to this idea, and they are as much a part of our program family as the older individuals. Several of the past semester CSUS students, including recent graduates, are continue to visit the program regularly. High school students help in the summer.

Academic units are provided to faculty by both the College of Health & Human Services (HHS) and the College of Social Sciences and Independent Studies (SSIS).  This contribution provides staffing for nursing coverage and program coordination and is greatly appreciated.
